Project First has already installed a number of environmentally friendly CO2 projects for major retailers in the UK and now are pleased to announce that a further two projects for Sainsbury's have been completed. CO2 is non-flammable and non-toxic and a genuine alternative to conventional HFC systems that have a Global Warming Potential (GWP) that is a staggering 3900 times greater than CO2, so using this natural gas really is the way forward.
Project First recognise the need to move with the times and it is clear that natural refrigerants are now a genuine alternative to conventional HFC systems. Many of Project First's customers are looking for a long term permanent solution to their refrigerant choice. In conjunction with Green & Cool, Scandinavia's number one independent manufacturer of CO2 refrigeration systems, Project First are in a position to supply a high volume, high quality commercially priced CO2 products which give a genuine HFC alternative to their customers.
Sainsbury's has pledged to switch to CO2 refrigeration in all its stores by 2030 and Project First has just completed work on a CO2 system at its brand new store at West Houghton. The system comprised of our sub critical CO2 plant as manufactured by our partner, Green & Cool. A Sainsbury spokesperson said 'The benefits to the store of the CO2 installation are that our complete energy bill for refrigeration will more than half and this was the single biggest user of electricity in the store'.
Project First plant has been developed using the highest quality components, designed specifically for use with high pressure systems to suit the maximum system design conditions. The plant is designed to ensure ease of maintenance and ensure that there is minimal risk of leakage. All Project First projects are certified to PED Category 4 level working in conjunction with their notified body Royal Sun Alliance.
Project First have established a spares support network through a national component wholesaler to provide 24 hour parts support. The company is presently working with the British Refrigeration Association to define new training standards and practices for the future of CO2 installations in the UK.
